WIRED has published its 2026 guide to the best iPhone 17 cases, drawing on tests of more than 100 cases and screen protectors across the iPhone 17 range, including the Pro Max, the iPhone Air and the new iPhone 17e. The guide stresses that a case remains worthwhile even on the latest models: despite the front Ceramic Shield 2 glass being roughly three times more scratch-resistant than before, the reviewers still recorded scratches on their own handsets, and protecting the phone helps preserve resale value.

The top pick is the Native Union Active Case (around £/$50), praised for its grippy microfibre lining, raised edges, recycled materials and glass-covered Camera Control button, narrowly beating the previous favourite, the Mous Limitless (about $70–75). The dbrand Ghost Case 2.0 (roughly $50–60) is named best clear case, with an anti-yellowing guarantee and a "hotfix" sticker to counter a minor rainbow "watermarking" effect, though it is not yet available for the standard iPhone 17. The Spigen Ultra Hybrid MagFit (around $19–20) is the best budget choice, and the guide was updated in July 2026 to add the Ninja Labs Flex Pouch and Mophie Check cases.
