The “bizarre” 1995 movie Harrison Ford wishes he’d never made: “Lived long enough to regret it”

Far Out ·

Harrison Ford has admitted he regrets making 1995's "Sabrina", a remake of Billy Wilder's beloved 1954 romantic comedy, calling the decision to revisit it with director Sydney Pollack a mistake. Ford, who rarely expresses regret over his film choices despite a run of critically maligned projects in recent decades, was unusually candid about this one, arguing there was little point remaking a film that could never surpass the original starring Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn.

Ford said he and Pollack, who died in 2008, "talked ourselves into" making the film and "both lived long enough to regret it", adding there was "no reason to do something that's already been done". Despite his misgivings, the remake earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, and Ford noted it helped launch the careers of co-stars Greg Kinnear and Julia Ormond, calling the project "a noble effort, a bizarre adventure for both of us".
