The Blood of Dawnwalker Is a Serious Witcher 3 Competitor, and It’s Launching Soon

Polygon · 4 hours ago

The Blood of Dawnwalker, a new open-world RPG from Rebel Wolves, launches on 2 September 2026 for Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and is being pitched as a genuine successor to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The comparison is no accident: Rebel Wolves was founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who directed The Witcher 3, and the studio also includes that game's senior writer, Jakub Szamalek, and art director, Bartłomiej Gaweł, giving the project strong creative pedigree in the genre.

Players take on the role of Coen, a human by day and vampire by night, who must decide whether to embrace his cursed powers while trying to save his family. An in-game clock advances with every completed quest, meaning some characters or storylines will inevitably be missed, ruling out seeing everything in a single playthrough despite a runtime of up to 70 hours. Tomaszkiewicz has described the game as the start of a larger saga stretching from its 14th-century setting into "modern times," with choices made here set to carry over into future instalments.
