‘The Boys’ Meets Power Rangers in Hulu’s 2-Part Dark Action Series

Collider ·

Hulu’s *Go! Go! Loser Ranger!* offers a dark, satirical take on the colourful hero teams of Super Sentai and *Power Rangers*, with a premise that also recalls *The Boys*. It reverses the familiar good-versus-evil formula, making the defeated aliens the exploited underdogs and casting their celebrated human opponents as corrupt figures.

Set 13 years after an alien invasion, the series follows the Dragon Keepers, who defeated the invaders’ leaders and now force the remaining foot soldiers, known as Dusters, to stage weekly re-enactments of their defeat. The Keepers have become a multibillion-dollar enterprise, while one Duster, Fighter D, takes human form to infiltrate the organisation and bring it down from within. The series is based on Negi Haruba’s manga and draws on Japan’s Super Sentai tradition, which inspired the *Power Rangers* format.

  • Hulu’s *Go! Go! Loser Ranger!* turns the Super Sentai formula on its head.
  • The alien foot soldiers are exploited by the heroes they once fought.
  • Fighter D infiltrates the Dragon Keepers to dismantle them.
