At a FanX panel, Usher discussed how audiences connected with his character A-Train despite the show's outlandish and morally questionable content, explaining that viewers related to the characters' decision-making even when their actions were bizarre.

The Boys premiered in 2019 with no guarantee of success, but it became one of the most-watched programmes globally, catapulting its cast to stardom. Usher's career trajectory exemplifies this transformation—prior to the series, he had only minor roles in films like Independence Day: Resurgence, whereas he now leads Netflix shows such as Pulse. Though the fifth and final season achieved a strong 92% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it received only 48% from audiences on Popcornmeter, making it the lowest-rated season of the entire run.
