BBC drops The Claudia Winkleman Show after single series

The BBC has confirmed that "The Claudia Winkleman Show" will not return for a second series, with the decision reportedly coming from Winkleman herself rather than the broadcaster. The talk show host, best known for fronting "The Traitors UK" and "Strictly Come Dancing", said she had found the sofa-based chat format too nerve-wracking to enjoy, though she left the door open to trying it again in future.
The show launched in February 2026 as a Friday-night companion to "The Graham Norton Show" during his off-season, and was even co-produced by Norton's own company, So Television. Despite a starry opening episode featuring Jeff Goldblum, Jennifer Saunders, Vanessa Williams and Tom Allen, the remaining instalments of the seven-episode run struggled for big names and drew inconsistent ratings that mostly trailed Norton's audience of over 1.1 million. The BBC's director of entertainment, Ed Havard, praised Winkleman's warmth and said she respected her choice, adding that she will return to the BBC later this year when "The Celebrity Traitors" comes back.

Claudia Winkleman is one of the BBC’s best-known television presenters. She hosts the celebrity dance competition Strictly Come Dancing and the reality game show The Traitors, both of which have large audiences.
Chat shows usually feature a host interviewing several guests, often actors, musicians or comedians, in front of a studio audience. The Graham Norton Show has long been one of the BBC’s main Friday-night chat shows, and programmes can be used to fill the gap when it is not on air.
Ratings measure how many people watch a programme and are one factor broadcasters consider when deciding whether to make more episodes. The Celebrity Traitors is a planned version of The Traitors involving well-known contestants, and is among Winkleman’s forthcoming BBC projects.
