The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport X is a 721-horsepower hybrid, all-wheel-drive sports car designed to replace the E-Ray while offering supercar performance at a comparatively accessible price. Its electrically powered front axle and petrol V8-driven rear wheels are coordinated by software, providing strong traction and performance even in wet conditions.

The model uses hybrid technology solely to enhance speed and handling rather than improve fuel economy, reflecting a broader resurgence in hybrid demand. In the US, hybrids reached a record 15.4 per cent market share through June 2026 and were selling at nearly three times the rate of EVs; Toyota, Hyundai and Honda account for 90 per cent of that market, while GM currently sells only two hybrids, both Corvettes.
