The creator of last year’s cult hit RPG The Necromancer’s Tale is back with The Lich Wars, a storybook RPG that follows 30 years of undead botheration
Psychic Software has announced The Lich Wars, a standalone prequel to The Necromancer’s Tale. It turns that game’s choose-your-own-adventure prologue into a storybook RPG, following a musketeer through a lengthy career marked by conflict with the undead.
The partly voiced game features branching choices, skills, stats, evolving relationships and the possibility of character death. Set in an alternative 18th-century Europe, it spans 30 years and two Lich Wars, with three main paths and travel across Rulsthen and parts of Western Europe. Its presentation centres on hand-drawn illustrations and text, alongside some maps and tabletop elements; no release date has been announced.
