Muna have recalled their “worst ever gig”, an acoustic performance at a Las Vegas dog-adoption festival where faulty equipment produced painful feedback and distressed the dogs. The incident came early in the LA trio’s career, but it now illustrates the difficult beginnings they overcame to become an acclaimed live act with prominent supporters including Taylor Swift and Harry Styles.

The band had flown overnight from London and were unwell when their label asked them to play Pet-A-Palooza in exchange for local radio support for a new single. Muna were later dropped by RCA Records during pandemic-era cost-cutting, before Phoebe Bridgers signed them to her Saddest Factory label in 2021; their collaboration on “Silk Chiffon” became a breakthrough. Their fourth album, *Dancing On The Wall*, uses darker dance music to address helplessness and encourage action.
