The Doors Legend Robby Krieger Mourns Death of Wife of 53 Years Who Inspired One of the Band’s Biggest Hits
Robby Krieger, the Doors’ guitarist and songwriter, has announced that his wife of more than 50 years, Lynn Ann Veres, has died peacefully. Her death matters to the band’s story as well as to Krieger’s personal life: she inspired “Love Her Madly”, one of the Doors’ biggest hits.
Krieger said Veres died on 29 October, with him and their son Waylon at her side. They married on Christmas Day in 1972 and had planned to celebrate their 54th anniversary next month. “Love Her Madly”, written by Krieger and released in March 1971, reached No. 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was among the last Doors songs to feature Jim Morrison.
