The Dungeon Crawler Carl TV Series Has Its Showrunners

IGN · 4 hours ago

The Dungeon Crawler Carl TV series, in development for Peacock, has appointed Chris Yost and Eric Heisserer as co-showrunners, marking a significant step forward for the adaptation of Matt Dinniman's popular LitRPG book series. Yost, previously attached as a writer, has been promoted to co-showrunner, while Heisserer joins bringing further science-fiction writing experience to the project. The pairing, alongside Seth MacFarlane's production company Fuzzy Door, suggests the series is being positioned as a major undertaking.

Yost's credits include work on The Mandalorian and the Marvel films Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok, as well as showrunning Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, while Heisserer previously ran Netflix's Shadow and Bone and wrote the film Arrival. It was also confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that audiobook narrator Jeff Hays will voice Princess Donut in the series, a choice Dinniman welcomed. No release date has yet been announced, and the books' momentum continues with two further novels planned and a tabletop RPG due in December, while Peacock separately confirmed its fourth price rise in four years alongside the addition of YouTube Premium for subscribers in early 2027.
