The Elder Scrolls Online developer posts extensive roadmap and reiterates that the game is “here to stay”, in spite of sweeping Xbox layoffs

Eurogamer · 2 hours ago

ZeniMax Online Studios has published a two-year roadmap for The Elder Scrolls Online and said the MMO is “here to stay”, seeking to reassure players after major Microsoft/Xbox layoffs raised concerns about its future. The statement matters because several senior staff have left the studio, while the 12-year-old game continues to depend on regular updates and community confidence.

Game director Nick Giacomini said the studio aims to prioritise quality over fixed release dates, while continuing its seasonal model and adding requested improvements. Plans through 2026 and 2027 include a class and combat refresh, solo dungeons, new events and previously unseen Skyrim content; the announcement follows Microsoft’s June layoffs of 3,200 Xbox staff and an earlier round that affected more than 9,000 employees.

  • ESO developer promises continued support despite Xbox layoffs.
  • Roadmap extends through 2027 and potentially beyond.
  • Planned additions include combat changes, solo dungeons and Skyrim content.
