The excellent Resident Evil remakes are coming to Switch 2 on October 16

Capcom will bring three of its acclaimed Resident Evil remakes to the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop on 16 October, the studio has confirmed, comprising the 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2, the 2020 remake of Resident Evil 3 and the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4. The release lands after a strong year for Capcom, which has already put out Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata and Onimusha: Way of the Sword in 2026, and it gives Switch 2 owners access to titles widely considered among the best entries in the survival horror series.
The Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes will each come bundled with all of their downloadable content, including RE4's Separate Ways expansion, which tells the story from Ada Wong's perspective. Resident Evil 2 alone has sold more than 19 million copies to date, so many players will already be familiar with it, but Capcom says the Switch 2 launch is also intended to prepare fans for Resident Evil: Veronica, a remake of the 2000 Dreamcast game due out sometime next year and following on chronologically from Resident Evil 2's story.

Capcom is bringing three of its Resident Evil remakes to Nintendo's Switch 2 console, giving owners of the newer hardware access to games that were previously unavailable on it. Resident Evil is a long-running survival horror series, and the remakes in question rework earlier entries in the franchise with modern graphics and gameplay, while keeping their original stories largely intact.
The three games involved are the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4, originally released between 2019 and 2023 on other platforms and generally regarded as some of the strongest instalments in the series. Capcom, the Japanese company behind Resident Evil, has had a busy year of releases and continues to expand where its back catalogue can be played, with Nintendo's Switch 2 representing a significant additional audience.
The move also connects to Capcom's future plans, since the studio has pointed to these titles as groundwork for an upcoming remake of Resident Evil: Veronica, a game that follows on from the story told in Resident Evil 2. That gives the Switch 2 release relevance beyond newly available ports, as it links directly to what the company has lined up next for the series.
