Families across Britain are desperately seeking information about relatives missing after a huge mudslide in Nepal’s Rasuwa valley destroyed villages, roads and communications. The disaster has left many areas accessible only by helicopter, complicating rescue efforts and raising fears that the confirmed death toll will rise.

At least 389 people have been reported dead and more than 1,500 missing, including 777 foreign nationals; 31 tourists were found alive, though none were British. Among those unaccounted for are pilgrims and tourists from London, Surrey, Slough and Sussex, while relatives have been attempting contact, checking phone trackers and travelling to Nepal themselves.
