Paramount Pictures is developing a feature film adaptation of Grady Hendrix's novel "The Final Girl Support Group," with horror filmmaker Christopher Landon set to write and direct. The move revives a project that had previously been in development as an HBO Max series, and marks the second collaboration between Landon and Hendrix following the producer's work on the author's "My Best Friend's Exorcism" for Amazon Studios.

Andy and Barbara Muschietti's Double Dream and Adam Goldworm's Aperture Entertainment remain attached as producers, though Charlize Theron, who had been involved via her Denver and Delilah Films banner, is no longer part of the project. Hendrix's novel, a New York Times bestseller that won the 2021 Goodreads Choice Award for Best Horror Novel, follows six "final girl" survivors of mass-murderer rampages in a Los Angeles support group; Hendrix will executive produce the film. Landon, known for "Freaky," "Heart Eyes" and several "Paranormal Activity" instalments, is repped by WME, Mosaic and Goodman Genow Schenkman Smelkinson & Christopher.
