Marvel Studios has released the first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, giving fans their clearest look yet at the film's ensemble cast and multiverse-spanning plot ahead of San Diego Comic-Con. The film, the penultimate instalment in the MCU's "Multiverse Saga," represents a major course correction after Jonathan Majors, originally cast as central villain Kang the Conqueror, was dropped from the franchise following his domestic violence conviction. In his place, returning directors the Russo brothers have built the story around Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the MCU as Doctor Doom, setting the stage for next year's Avengers: Secret Wars.

Set fourteen months after Thunderbolts*, the plot unites heroes from three separate universes—the core Avengers, Wakandan and New Avengers strand, the Fantastic Four's world, and the original X-Men—against a shared existential threat. The sprawling cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright, Pedro Pascal, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Channing Tatum, alongside numerous cameos such as Chris Evans's Steve Rogers and Tom Holland's Spider-Man. The Russo brothers previously directed four of the MCU's most successful films, which together grossed more than $6 billion worldwide, and Avengers: Doomsday is due for release ahead of Secret Wars in May 2027.
