EA has appointed Andrew Wilson's former deputy, Cam Weber, to a newly expanded role overseeing the entire company, having previously run EA Sports. The move consolidates leadership across EA's portfolio under one executive, signalling how central the sports division, and its accompanying business strategy, has become to the wider company's direction, particularly as EA Sports FC and Madden franchises remain major revenue drivers.

Weber's promotion follows EA's recent take-private deal, backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake and Affinity Partners, which closed with a roughly $55 billion valuation. His expanded remit puts him in charge of studios and franchises well beyond sports titles, reflecting EA's apparent intent to apply the operational approach honed in its sports business, built around live services, licensing deals and recurring monetisation, more broadly across the company.
