Sussex House Farm, the former Kent-Sussex border home of Mr Men creator Roger Hargreaves, has been put on the market for offers exceeding £3.95 million. Hargreaves bought the Grade II-listed estate in 1982 after the books became hugely successful, and it was where he lived and worked until his death from a stroke in 1988.

Dating from 1580, the mock Tudor property sits on 30 acres and has nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a swimming pool, tennis court and converted stables. It was also previously home to Oscar-winning actor John Mills and his daughter Hayley, while the Mr Men and Little Miss books have sold more than 250 million copies worldwide; the first, Mr Tickle, sold one million copies in its first three weeks.
