The Last of Us Season 3 Expands Cast with John Goodman and Video Game Stars Laura Bailey, Ian Alexander

HBO’s The Last of Us has added John Goodman, Ian Alexander and Laura Bailey to its third-season cast. Alexander and Bailey previously voiced Lev and Abby respectively in The Last of Us: Part II video game, but will play different characters in the television adaptation: Goodman is Joey, Alexander is Paco and Bailey is Elizabeth, a Seraphite leader. The casting is notable as the series has previously brought in actors from the games, including Jeffrey Wright and Merle Dandridge.
Season 3 is expected to centre on Abby Anderson’s story and the Seraphites, although plot details remain undisclosed. Other new cast members include Li Jun Li, Peter Sarsgaard, Jason Ritter, Patrick Wilson, Michelle Mao, Clea DuVall and Jorge Lendeborg, who replaces Danny Ramirez as Manny. The season is scheduled for 2027 and could be the series’ final instalment; HBO chief Casey Bloys said Craig Mazin appears to have planned it that way, while Joel’s possible appearance in flashbacks remains uncertain following his Season 2 death.
