The latest Avatar: Seven Havens trailer gives us a deeper dive into the characters and story

Engadget ·

Paramount+ has released a nearly three-minute trailer for Avatar: Seven Havens, the next instalment in the Avatar franchise, offering a fuller look at its characters and storyline ahead of its 9 October premiere. The show is set 200 years after The Legend of Korra, in a post-apocalyptic world where survivors have retreated into seven havens following unspecified catastrophic events for which Korra is being blamed, leaving public opinion turned against Avatars generally.

The new trailer follows a shorter teaser released in July and introduces Avatar Pavi, a young girl likely to face persecution once her identity becomes known, alongside a twin sister and a supporting friend group. The first three episodes launch on 9 October on Paramount+, with subsequent episodes released weekly; two 13-episode seasons have already been commissioned. The franchise, which began with Avatar: The Last Airbender over 20 years ago, has had a busy 2026, also seeing an Aang-focused film release and the second season of Netflix's live-action adaptation, with a third and final season still to come.

Explained simply

Avatar: Seven Havens is the next animated series in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender, a franchise that began more than 20 years ago. It follows The Legend of Korra, whose story ended with Korra as the current Avatar, a person able to master the world’s elements.

The new series takes place 200 years later, after catastrophic events have forced survivors to live in seven havens. Korra is blamed for what happened, turning public opinion against Avatars; the story follows Pavi, a young girl who is the new Avatar, and her twin sister.

The series continues a busy year for the franchise, which also includes an Aang-focused film and Netflix’s live-action adaptation. Its setting raises questions about how people remember Korra’s time and what it means to be the Avatar in a world that distrusts them.
