Other games media also described the images as a reported leak, rather than confirmation of a forthcoming product.

The article contrasted the alleged new controller with Nintendo’s existing Tears of the Kingdom-themed Switch Pro Controller, released for the original Switch in 2023. That earlier controller can also be paired with Switch 2, but Nintendo states that original Switch controllers cannot wake a Switch 2 from sleep mode via the HOME Button; they also lack newer Switch 2-specific controls and functions. GamesRadar+ noted that the older Zelda model was no longer available through Nintendo’s UK and US stores, although it could still be found through resale and other retailers, making it an option for players who prioritise the design over the newer features.
