The Legend of Zelda is Nintendo’s long-running adventure series, usually starring Link, a hero who explores a fantasy world and tries to protect it from danger. Ocarina of Time first appeared in 1998 and brought the series into three dimensions, with exploration, puzzles and battles linked by a story about the land of Hyrule.
The game follows Link as he travels between places such as forests, towns and dungeons, using tools and solving puzzles to move forward. Its mix of exploration and action helped make it one of the series’ best-known entries, so a remake has to work for returning fans while welcoming new players.
Nintendo makes and publishes the series, and the Switch 2 is its newer games console. A remake can update how an older game looks and plays while keeping its story and central ideas, making it a way for a new audience to encounter a landmark title.
