The Wandering Inn, widely regarded as the longest LitRPG series ever written, is set to receive its first-ever paperback release on 11 August, a decade after it began as a free web serial. The move follows the mainstream breakthrough of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, which has encouraged other self-published LitRPG authors to make the jump into physical print editions. Author Pirateaba said it took years of pitching the story before a publisher agreed to the deal, crediting the wider popularity of the genre for finally making it possible.

The series, written by Pirateaba, now spans 21 books and is already available as eBooks and audiobooks, with the debut audiobook running over 48 hours. It follows Erin Solstice, an Earth girl transported to another world who stumbles upon an abandoned inn, with the story expanding to encompass numerous characters and races across an evolving fantasy setting. Pirateaba credited other popular LitRPG titles, including Beware of Chicken and Arcane Ascension, alongside Dungeon Crawler Carl, for helping build the genre's profile with traditional publishers.
