Sydney jeweller ordered to repay partner over hidden MAFS sponsorship deal
A judge has ordered Sydney jeweller Pierre Germani and his company to pay his former business partner’s company more than $800,000, finding that Germani dishonestly diverted a lucrative Married At First Sight sponsorship deal. The NSW Supreme Court found he breached his duties as a director and fiduciary by setting up a new company and concealing its existence and sales from his partner.
Germani and Fred Grotte had run Pierre Jewellery, with Grotte holding a 40 per cent stake in two companies. After their relationship soured in 2022, Germani established Prodiamonds, trading as Pierre Diamonds, from the same shop; producers later selected the new company as the show’s exclusive jeweller for 2023. The court ordered payment of $690,000 plus interest, estimated to exceed $800,000; the parties are due back in court next month on orders and costs.
