Dark Horse Comics will launch a new ongoing Dungeons & Dragons series in November, centred on the wizard Mordenkainen as he recruits Forgotten Realms figures including Volo and Tasha to prevent a draconic apocalypse. The comic matters to tabletop players because special issues will include game statistics and lore for featured dragons, allowing Dungeon Masters to introduce them into their own campaigns.

Mordenkainen, traditionally a powerful wizard, has been stripped of his magic in this story, while the creative team includes writers Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing and artist Ibraim Roberson. The first three foil variant covers depict legendary dragons, with Bahamut, the god of good-aligned dragons, apparently among them; issue one arrives on 4 November for $4.99 and will also feature an essay by voice actor Erika Ishii.
