Rights holder HarperCollins is releasing a Deluxe Illustrated Edition of "The Fall of Númenor," expanding its line of premium Tolkien hardbacks. The 352-page volume, featuring artwork by longtime Tolkien illustrator Alan Lee, is now available for preorder and is timed to arrive alongside the third season of Amazon Prime Video's "The Rings of Power," which is set during the same Second Age period covered in the book.

The edition costs $75 on Amazon and is due for release on 10 November 2026. It compiles stories originally edited by Christopher Tolkien from his father's writings, covering events before "The Hobbit" and "The Fellowship of the Ring," including the Elves of Eregion forging the Rings of Power under Sauron's influence. The book features a crimson cover with gold-sprayed edges and Elvish lettering, and comes with a full-colour foldout map and a removable art card, joining three existing Deluxe Editions covering "The Lord of the Rings," "The Hobbit" and "The Silmarillion."
