Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has finished its first week in North American cinemas with nearly $200m, underlining its strong momentum after a major opening weekend. Its performance places it among Nolan’s biggest first-week domestic releases, while several smaller films and event releases provide counter-programming ahead of the weekend.

The Odyssey earned $17.6m on Thursday, taking its seven-day total to $199.3m from 3,919 cinemas; its second weekend is projected at $61m–$74m. Hadestown took $1.5m in previews and is forecast to open at $8m–$10m, while Motor City made $475,000 and Her Private Hell $125,000 in previews; the latter has a 45% Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score.
