Stephen King has said he would trust director Frank Darabont with any adaptation of his work, praising both Darabont’s creative judgement and his ability to portray ordinary people convincingly. The endorsement matters because King’s books have produced adaptations of sharply varying quality, while Darabont’s films are among the author’s most highly regarded screen versions.

Darabont directed three King adaptations: The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and The Mist. King said he would be “a fool” not to trust him, noting that every Darabont adaptation had been excellent; however, Darabont has not directed a feature film or another King adaptation since The Mist in 2007.
