The original 1991 action thriller Point Break is returning to cinemas this August to mark its 35th anniversary, distributed by Fathom Events with a new 4K restoration. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow and starring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze, the film remains a cult favourite for blending surf culture with heist-movie thrills, and the re-release gives audiences a rare chance to see it on the big screen again.

The film follows undercover FBI agent Johnny Utah (Reeves), sent to infiltrate a group of surfers suspected of being bank robbers who commit crimes wearing masks of former US presidents, led by the charismatic Bodhi (Swayze). The supporting cast includes Gary Busey, Lori Petty, John C. McGinley, James LeGros and Anthony Kiedis. Screenings are set for 16 and 19 August, with a special introduction from surfing legend Matt Archbold, who was Swayze's surf double on the film; a 4K Ultra HD home release is also available for those who cannot wait.
