The Pretty Reckless frontwoman Taylor Momsen has spoken candidly about the writing process behind the band's fifth studio album, "Dear God", released last month via Fearless Records, describing it as her most honest and personal work to date. In a new interview with the JJO Discover New Music Podcast, she said the record was "ripped almost directly from my diary", explaining that she only realised how exposing it was the day before release, but embraced the openness as central to why the album feels special.

Momsen also discussed the band's decision to once again self-produce the album alongside engineer Jonathan Wyman and guitarist Ben Phillips, a partnership formed after the death of longtime producer Kato Khandwala, who worked on the band's earlier records. She compared the approach to The Beatles' relationship with George Martin, saying the band prefers building on established creative partnerships rather than switching producers. The album has already spawned several successful singles, including "For I Am Death", which became the band's eighth Mainstream Rock Radio number one, and the band is set to tour behind the record on its headlining "Dear God" tour.
