‘The Purge’ Is Officially Returning in 2027 With a New Nightmare
A new *The Purge* comic is due in late 2027, beginning a partnership between Blumhouse and IDW Publishing’s horror imprint, IDW Dark. It extends the franchise beyond its five films and two television seasons, bringing its premise of an annual night of state-sanctioned crime to a new story in comics.
Writer Dan Watters and artist Juan José Ryp are attached; Watters has worked on *Batman: Dark Patterns* and *TMNT: Shredder*, while Ryp has illustrated *Wolverine: Blood Hunt*. No synopsis, characters, timeline placement or exact publication date have been announced, so the comic’s particular “new nightmare” remains unknown.
