At San Diego Comic-Con, director Anthony Russo confirmed that "Avengers: Doomsday" is still being edited with fewer than 150 days remaining before its 18 December release. Speaking to Collider, Russo said the film's complexity and large ensemble cast mean he and co-director Joe Russo are continuing to refine the edit, having not yet locked the final cut. The update comes as Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation generated significant buzz, with new footage shown and several announcements about the franchise's future beyond the film.

Russo described the process as "kneading the dough", noting the pair keep discovering new elements as they work through the footage, and declined to confirm a runtime, only saying it would be "substantial". The presentation also included news from Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, who confirmed "Black Panther 3" will arrive after "Secret Wars" and announced Ryan Gosling as the star of a new "Ghost Rider" film, with Feige reiterating that Marvel has story plans mapped out until at least 2042. "Doomsday" is the 39th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
