Brazilian actor Maria Fernanda Cândido, who gained wider international recognition through her role in Kleber Mendonça Filho's Oscar-nominated "The Secret Agent," is set to star in "Lost Objects" ("Objetos Perdidos"), a new film from acclaimed director Luiz Fernando Carvalho. Production on the project, described as a modern dystopian fable, has already begun, marking the pair's reunion after their 2023 collaboration on "The Passion According to G.H." The announcement lands just days before Cândido is due to receive a career tribute at the Gramado Film Festival.

The film, produced by Academia de Filmes within the INK Studios ecosystem, also features theatre veteran André Frateschi, newcomer Marcela Vivan Russo and French actor Maurice Durozier. Carvalho describes it as "chemical fiction," a poetic dialogue with science fiction exploring love as a force that may or may not be real. Cândido said the two films form a "diptych," with "Lost Objects" following on from her "most radical artistic journey" in the Clarice Lispector adaptation "The Passion According to G.H.," which premiered at Rotterdam to acclaim.
