Brighton-born Anthropic co-founder’s wealth and influence could grow with flotation
Jack Clark, a Brighton-born co-founder of Anthropic, is set to become far wealthier if the AI company goes public at the valuation analysts expect. His position has also put him among the people shaping decisions about powerful AI, which could bring major medical advances but also carries serious risks.
Clark, 38, studied English literature at the University of East Anglia and began his career earning £19,000 a year. Forbes puts his current paper net worth at $13.7 billion; Anthropic’s prospective valuation is at least $1.5 trillion, and its seven board members hold 50.1 per cent of voting rights. Now living in San Francisco with his wife and two daughters, Clark still hosts Doctor Who nights and is working with a friend to perfect sausage rolls.
