Free Cover, a Venezuelan live-session band project founded in 2017 by musician friends Alejandro "Neg" Barrera and Daniel "Chompa" Bracho, has grown from a homemade YouTube video into a major platform for Latin artists, now boasting more than a million subscribers. The pair started the project after noticing a lack of well-produced, live YouTube content showcasing artists, particularly from Venezuela, and their format has since attracted a growing roster of acclaimed musicians from across Latin America.

The project began in Maracaibo before relocating to Miami, where sets are filmed outdoors or in a theatre with a live audience. Its breakthrough came with a 2018 video of salsa singer Ronald Borjas, which has amassed nearly 40 million views, followed by a 2022 session with Dominican merengue star Rubby Pérez that has reached almost 35 million views. Free Cover releases one new video a month, condensing an artist's best songs into a medley under 15 minutes, and has since featured international acts including Los Rabanes, Rey Ruiz, Ilegales and Grupo Niche, generating revenue through YouTube monetisation, sponsorships and other platforms such as Spotify and TikTok.
