The “terrible” 1979 movie Harrison Ford and Kris Kristofferson both hated with a passion

Far Out ·

Kris Kristofferson withdrew from the romantic war drama *Hanover Street* after becoming unhappy with his acting and reconsidering the script. Harrison Ford took the lead role, but later described making the film as “a terrible experience” and refused to discuss it, leaving both actors with a strong dislike of the 1979 movie.

Kristofferson had initially been drawn to the story of an American bomber who falls for a married woman in wartime London. After he quit, the filmmakers sued him for breach of contract; he offered them a script called *The Johnson County War* as a possible settlement, but they declined. Ford, then known for playing Han Solo, starred in the film, which was released in May 1979.

  • Kristofferson left *Hanover Street* before filming.
  • Ford replaced him, then disowned the film.
  • Kristofferson was sued after withdrawing.
