Michael B Jordan hunts stolen art as a reformed thief in Thomas Crown Affair remake

Amazon MGM Studios has released the trailer for its new version of “The Thomas Crown Affair”, directed by and starring Michael B. Jordan. The film recasts the celebrated art thief as a globetrotting billionaire whose crimes are intended to return looted or sold artefacts to their rightful creators, giving the story a more personal and contemporary purpose.
Jordan’s Thomas Crown is pursued by a former FBI agent played by Adria Arjona, while Kenneth Branagh portrays a villain who threatens him. Written by Drew Pearce from an earlier draft by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson, the film follows the 1968 Steve McQueen-Faye Dunaway original and the 1999 Pierce Brosnan-Rene Russo remake, and will be released on 5 March 2027.

This is the third time the story has reached the screen, following the 1968 film starring Steve McQueen and a 1999 remake with Pierce Brosnan. Jordan both directs and stars in this version, and also produces alongside Charles Roven, with a screenplay by Drew Pearce. It arrives shortly after Jordan won the best actor Oscar for "Sinners", adding extra attention to how he handles a well-known character in a fresh way.
