An ESA astronaut aboard the International Space Station has marked Star Trek's 60th anniversary by wearing a replica Starfleet badge in a video tribute to the franchise's enduring link with real-world space exploration. Expedition 75 flight engineer Sophie Adenot donned the Delta badge worn by actor Anson Mount, who plays Captain Pike in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, in footage released by ESA and Paramount. The gesture highlights the parallels between the fictional Starfleet missions and the ISS's ongoing international cooperation in science and discovery.

Adenot flew the badge as part of her "Epsilon" mission, with ESA noting that representatives from 12 countries have maintained a continuous human presence on the ISS for nearly 30 years, alongside visitors from 14 further nations. She is not the first astronaut to honour the franchise in orbit: Italy's Samantha Cristoforetti wore a uniform inspired by Captain Janeway in 2015 while brewing the first espresso in space. ESA also noted that real technologies, including tablets, handheld medical devices and 3D printers, were first envisioned on the show before being developed for genuine use on Earth and in orbit.
