In 1986, Australian model Finlay Light was reportedly selected to replace Roger Moore as James Bond and signed a ten-year contract, despite having no substantial acting experience. The decision was abandoned before filming after United Artists changed ownership and its new management objected to casting an unknown, leaving Light excluded from the role and largely forgotten in Bond history.

Light said producers Barbara Broccoli and John Glen interviewed him in Australia before he travelled to Los Angeles to sign a lengthy contract. His selection was publicly announced, prompting intense media attention, and he completed a screen test involving action and romantic scenes. However, the production’s changing corporate circumstances ultimately overturned the deal, and Timothy Dalton was later cast as Bond.
