‘The View’ co-hosts agree Democrats should not impeach Trump if party wins back control of Congress
The co-hosts of *The View* agreed with former Vice-President Kamala Harris that Democrats should not prioritise impeaching Donald Trump if they regain control of Congress. They argued that investigations and policies with a clearer chance of progress would be a better use of the party’s time and resources.
Harris said the votes needed to convict Trump in the Senate were not available. Sunny Hostin pointed to House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries’ proposed first 100 days and first 100 hours of action, while Ana Navarro noted that legislation could still face a presidential veto. Joy Behar also said impeachment would be pointless without enough votes to convict; Sara Haines urged Democrats to focus on delivering campaign promises.
In short
- The co-hosts backed Harris’s opposition to prioritising impeachment.
- They favoured investigations and policy action.
- Conviction would require 67 Senate votes.
