The Whole Assassin’s Creed Series Is Now Spearheaded by Valhalla’s Director
Ubisoft has appointed Eric Baptizat as the new game director overseeing the entire Assassin's Creed franchise, marking the latest step in the publisher's ongoing restructuring of the series' leadership. The move comes as Assassin's Creed now sits under the Tencent-backed Vantage Studios division, with Ubisoft keen to place experienced hands in charge of one of its most reliable revenue generators amid a turbulent period for the company.
Baptizat spent 16 years at Ubisoft, where he directed Assassin's Creed Valhalla and held senior design roles on Black Flag, Unity and Origins, before departing for EA to direct the Dead Space remake and contribute to Battlefield 6's gameplay design. He now returns to Ubisoft to lead the brand as a whole, working alongside Jean Guesdon, who was named "head of content" for the series earlier this year. The appointments form part of a broader leadership shake-up intended to reassure fans and investors, though Valhalla's mixed reception among players leaves some scepticism about the direction the franchise may now take.
