CD Projekt Red has announced that its forthcoming Witcher 3 expansion, Songs of the Past, will receive its premiere showcase during Gamescom's Opening Night Live event on August 25th. The studio confirmed the presentation via social media, offering fans their first substantive look at the DLC, which was previously announced as part of marking ten years since the acclaimed Blood and Wine expansion.

The expansion is scheduled for 2027 across PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X, developed in collaboration with Fool's Theory. CD Projekt Red describes the project's magnitude as comparable to Blood and Wine—typically requiring 25 to 40 hours for most players—and deliberately postponed its original 2026 target date to prioritise quality assurance. The add-on will follow Geralt of Rivia rather than Ciri, who will lead the upcoming Witcher 4, positioning Songs of the Past as a franchise reflection rather than a direct narrative bridge to the next mainline title.
