The Xteink X4 Pro is a newly announced ultra-compact ereader from Xteink, a brand specialising in tiny, distraction-free reading devices. Measuring just 5.95mm thick and weighing 72 grams, it is smaller than rivals such as the Boox Palma 2 Pro and is designed to slip into a pocket, offering a screen-free-adjacent alternative to scrolling on a phone. It notably supports only DRM-free ebooks, meaning it cannot sync with Kindle libraries or services like Libby, which limits its appeal despite the appealing form factor.

The device has a 4.3-inch touchscreen with page-turn buttons, a circular home button and an adjustable front light, and files can be loaded wirelessly via the Xteink app or by USB cable, which also allows custom fonts and wallpapers. It has a 1,100mAh battery, 16GB of storage expandable to 256GB via microSD, and charges via a magnetic adapter rather than a built-in USB-C port, also using built-in magnets to attach to a phone. It is priced at $99, putting it close to a basic Kindle's cost.
