Deadline has reported that Australian actor Uli Latukefu has been cast as the villain Ganondorf in the upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda film, and that he has signed a "multi-picture deal" — fuelling speculation that Nintendo and Sony are planning further instalments, possibly a trilogy. Neither studio has formally confirmed additional films, but the move would follow the box-office success of the recent Super Mario films, which showed strong appetite for Nintendo adaptations on screen.

The Zelda movie was first announced in 2023 as a joint production between Nintendo and Sony Pictures, directed by Wes Ball and produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad. Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth were cast as Princess Zelda and Link last year, and filming has now wrapped ahead of a planned release on 30 April 2027. A separate Deadline report also revealed that Dichen Lachman will play Impa, Yvonne Strahovski will portray a queen character, and the late Sam Neill has joined the cast in an as-yet-unspecified role.
