A Pride-themed welcome banner outside St Mark’s Church in Broomhill, Sheffield, was cut down and stolen in broad daylight. Vicar Reverend Helena Roulston said the incident was reported as a hate crime, and that it was particularly upsetting because the church aims to welcome students and the LGBTQ+ community.

The banner had been installed five days earlier, on 16 September, before disappearing on 21 September. Roulston said congregants believed Pride flags had been removed from the church previously; the church has since replaced the banner with an identical one. South Yorkshire Police has been contacted for comment.
