Adam & Eve is set during the Second World War and follows two children born on Armistice Day 1918 to families from opposite ends of society. Archer says he wrote 18 handwritten drafts over two years, believes it is his most ambitious novel, and does not want to continue writing into old age or allow posthumous co-authored books; his novels have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide.
