Tank, one of Sheffield's best-known nightclubs, has announced it is closing permanently after 12 years, with management ruling out any prospect of a future reopening. The venue, which opened in 2014, said in its announcement that spiralling monthly running costs had made it impossible to carry on, reflecting wider financial pressures facing independent nightlife venues. The closure marks the end of a club that built a reputation locally and nationally for hosting major touring DJs and international acts while keeping ticket prices affordable for students and regular clubbers.

Tank will shut its doors the week following the announcement, made on 6 August 2026, with a farewell party planned for the final Saturday and tickets made available for it. In its statement, the club was explicit that this was a definitive end rather than a pause, saying: "There is no refurb. There is no reopening. This is it." Management pointed to rising operating costs and broader industry challenges as having made its low-price, high-quality booking model unsustainable, bringing to a close 12 years regarded by many in Sheffield's nightlife scene as a golden era of clubbing memories.
