There is still no secret ninth episode, but Netflix has shared a season 5 blooper reel in celebration of Stranger Things Day
Netflix marked Stranger Things Day 2026 by releasing a blooper reel from the show’s fifth and final season, more than 10 months after the series ended. The clip shows cast members laughing, stumbling over lines and joking during filming, offering a lighter look at the production of the show’s sombre final instalment.
Some fans had hoped the annual event would bring a bigger announcement, including a rumoured secret ninth episode, but Netflix released no new episode. The speculation, known as “Conformity Gate”, followed the finale’s New Year’s Day release and a later Netflix teaser that led fans to expect more; the show’s story centres on Will Byers’s disappearance in Hawkins on 6 November 1983, the date commemorated as Stranger Things Day.
In short
- Netflix released a season five blooper reel for Stranger Things Day.

Explained simply
Stranger Things is a science-fiction drama set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. Its story begins when schoolboy Will Byers disappears in 1983, drawing his friends and family into events involving a parallel world and a government laboratory.
The series follows Will, his friends, their families and other Hawkins residents as they face dangers linked to that world. Netflix released the fifth season as the show’s final instalment, and fans mark 6 November as Stranger Things Day because it is the date Will disappears in the story.
