These $500 Adidas Sneakers Just Won the New York City Marathon

Kenyan runner Sheila Chepkirui won the women’s race at the 2026 New York City Marathon in Adidas’s $500 Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3. Her victory adds to the shoe’s strong record in elite competition and highlights the growing role of advanced running footwear in major races.

Chepkirui completed the 26.2-mile course in 2:24:36. According to Footwear News, eight of 14 major marathon winners this year wore the model, which weighs 97 grams and Adidas says is 30% lighter than its predecessor. Sweden’s Andreas Almgren won the men’s race in Nike’s unreleased Apex shoe, while Adidas reported a 19% rise in running revenue in its third quarter.
