Noel Gallagher has won planning permission from Westminster Council to carry out a major renovation of his £11.5million Grade II-listed London mansion, which has been found to be plagued with significant structural problems. The Oasis guitarist's new five-level, seven-bedroom home requires extensive repair work, with council documents citing structural movement, roof leaks, rising damp and damage caused by unsympathetic alterations made when the property was previously converted into flats before being restored to a single dwelling.

The 19th-century building will undergo a full strip-out, with interiors already reduced to empty shells, alongside the addition of modern features including a gym, sauna, cinema room and basement bar, plus conversion of an interlinking building into a one-bedroom guest suite. Council planning officer John Wilman backed the scheme, concluding it would not harm the building's heritage significance, and approval was granted with minimal conditions after architects framed the work as necessary conservation rather than wholesale change; conditions include matching original materials and restricting construction hours to weekdays and Saturday mornings, with an emphasis on recycling demolition waste.
